“The name Raja Ampat means “Four Kings” and was derived from the four islands: Batanta, Misool, Salawati and Waigeo. Commonly known as a divers’ paradise and marine biologist’s wet dream, what draws people to diving Raja Ampat isnt any one individual species; instead, it’s the sheer abundance of marine life and the lushness of the coral scenery.”

October to April, with best chance of “perfect conditions” from mid-October to mid-December

As far as weather is concerned, any time of year is suitable for diving Raja Ampat.  Smaller boats may have trouble with the strong wind and rain from June to August, so if you plan on covering a lot of ocean it would probably be best to pick a different time of year. Most Indonesian liveaboards dive Raja Ampat from October till April, though some boats run trips all year round. During this period, plankton blooms lower visibility, but more manta rays are attracted to the plankton.
